Uses

Nandrolone is a testosterone derivative which can be used in the supportive management of chronic renal failure. It provides a duration of activity of 6-7 days following a single injection.

Dosage and administration

Dog                              2 - 5 mg/kg

Cat                               2 - 5 mg/kg

As with all hormone therapy there can be considerable variation in response to treatment; the above dosages may need to be adjusted according to clinical response. Treatment may be repeated every 6-7 days.

Administer by subcutaneous or intramuscular injection, observing usual aseptic precautions.

Contra-indications, warnings, etc,

1. Androgenic side effects may be seen in animals treated with Nandrolin, especially in entire female animals.

2. Nandrolin is contra-indicated in pregnant animals.

3. The product may cause a strong urine odour in cats.

4. Use in prepubertal animals may result in early epiphyseal closure.

5. This product contains benzyl alcohol, which has been documented to cause adverse reactions in neonates.  For this reason, Nandrolin should not be used in very young animals.

6. As with all oily solutions, injection site reactions may occur.

7. Use in pregnancy may result in virilisation of the foetus therefore it is advisable that pregnant women avoid administering this product.

8. Avoid accidental self-injection of this product.

9. Wash hands after use.

Pharmaceutical  precautions

Nandrolin should be protected from light. Do not store above 25°C.  Swab the septum before removing each dose. Use a dry sterile needle and syringe. At low temperature the product may become viscous.  Warming the product in the hand will return the contents to the normal state.

Following withdrawal of the first dose, use the product within 28 days.

Keep container in outer carton.

Dispose of any unused product and empty containers in accordance with guidance from your local waste regulation authority.
