_{Live, attenuated, freeze-dried virus vaccine for reconstitution with the diluent provided. Each dose of vaccine contains at least 3 log10 TCID50 Chicken Anaemia Agent.}

For the active immunisation of healthy broiler breeders against chicken anaemia.

Reconstitute the vaccine using the diluent provided, allowing 0.2 ml diluent per dose i.e. 200 ml per 1000 doses. Administer 0.2 ml to every bird by intramuscular or subcutaneous injection. Equipment used for vaccination should be sterile and contain no traces of detergents or disinfectants.

Vaccination programme

The optimum age and route of vaccination depend on the local situation and should be determined by the site veterinarian. The chicks should be at least 6 weeks of age before vaccination, and should be vaccinated at least 6 weeks before the expected onset of lay.

1. Only healthy birds should be vaccinated. Sick or weak birds will not develop adequate immunity following vaccination. 
   
   
2. Do not vaccinate birds below 6 weeks of age under any circumstances. 
   
   
3. Do not vaccinate birds in the last six weeks before lay or birds in lay. 
   
   
4. Birds to be vaccinated should be in good health. Sick or weak birds may not develop adequate immunity following vaccination. 
   
   
5. No information is available on the effects of concurrent use of this vaccine with any other. It is therefore recommended that no other vaccine should be administered within 14 days before or after Nobilis CAV P4.

Store between +2°C and +8°C. Do not freeze. Protect from light.

The diluent may be stored at room temperature (below 25°C). Once reconstituted the vaccine should be used within 2 hours. Empty or part used vials should be burnt or immersed in a disinfectant approved under the Diseases of Animals (Approved Disinfectants) Order.

Induction of high, uniform levels of humoral neutralising antibodies prior to onset of lay prevents vertical transmission of CAA to the progeny. The duration of immunity for the vaccine has not yet been established.

The Nobilis CAV P4 vaccine virus has the ability to spread from vaccinates to susceptible birds. Care should be taken to avoid spread to very young birds and birds in lay.

A good immune response is reliant on the reaction of an immunogenic agent and a fully competent immune system. Immunogenicity of the vaccine antigen will be reduced by poor storage or inappropriate administration. Immuno-competence of the animal may be compromised by a variety of factors including poor health, nutritional status, genetic factors, concurrent drug therapy and stress. Under certain conditions, for example extreme disease pressure and variant challenge, fully immune birds may succumb to disease. Therefore, successful vaccination may not be synonymous with full protection in the face of a disease challenge.
