IBR – controlling it could be easier than you thought

Estimates put the prevalence of IBR in the UK’s dairy herd as being between 50% and 60%. Work from Holland suggests that an infected animal will produce around 179kg less milk per annum than a disease-free animal, and clinically affected beef animals can take as much as four weeks longer to reach target slaughter weight.  It’s no surprise then that IBR ranks as a very costly disease for farmers.
