Colostrum quality – a simple guide

Colostrum management and intake is a key part of producing a successful and healthy calf.  Too many calves still fail to drink enough, so making them vulnerable to disease and infection, particularly scours.  Caused by many different bugs, neonatal scours slows down calf development and can prove fatal if severe.  A few simple steps preparing the cow in the run up to calving should ensure that the calf is as well protected as possible.
