BVD - don't overlook heifers

BVD is a disease classified as 'endemic' in the UK dairy herd, with experts estimating that in excess of 90% of cattle have been exposed to the virus. The losses are signifiant, although they can be hard to measure. Poor fertility, reduced yield and general low immunity can lead to significant economic losses but the disease can be addressed with a planned vaccination strategy.
