Pneumonia

Respiratory disease is the most economically significant health problem facing young beef and dairy calves.  It can be caused by a range of viruses and bacteria and most infections comprise more than one pathogen.  Longer term effects on growth rates are usually seen.

Lungworm

Lungworm infection causes a disease known as husk which is one of the most common causes of respiratory disease in young or adult dairy cattle.  Typically an outbreak causes coughing and a raised temperature leading to a reduced appetite, slower growth rates and reduced milk yield thereafter.  Vaccination is the only effective method of protection.
