A review of the Afya Serengeti project
24 November 2006
Intervet UK continues its commitment to the 'Afya Serengeti' project, which means 'health of Serengeti' in Swahili. To date, the company has donated 55,000 doses of its rabies vaccine to the project to support the ongoing preventative campaign to combat rabies amongst the domestic dog population in the Serengeti. This, in turn, has reaped tremendous benefits, both for humans by reducing the incidence of rabid dog bites and for wildlife. Latest research reveals the resurgence of the African wild dog population (a species nearing extinction) within the Serengeti National Park.
Further afield, Intervet also supports the worldwide conservation of endangered and rare species through its commitment to Wildlife Vets International which offers a dedicated team of veterinary specialists to assist in the conservation of endangered species around the globe.
