Help handling BTV enquiries
25 February 2008
In a move aimed at providing vets with the information they need to handle enquiries about its Bluetongue vaccine, Bovilis BTV8, Intervet has produced a detailed presentation which is available for free download from www.intervet.co.uk/bluetongue.
Intervet has been awarded the DEFRA tender to supply 22.5 million doses of the new vaccine, and while the product is not yet available the company understands that vets are keen to find out as much about the disease and vaccination as possible. The downloadable presentation contains much of the information vets might need when communicating with their clients.
The company is also aware that many concerned livestock farmers are already calling their vets to place forward orders. Intervet’s Ian Anderson recommends that vets record all the Bluetongue enquiries they receive so that they can be acted upon once the vaccine is available. To help vets do this, the company has designed a bespoke enquiry recording form, which is also available for download from its web site.
Vets that are unable to download from the Internet can request a copy of the presentation and recording form by sending an email to support@intervet.co.uk with the subject heading “bluetongue presentation”.
