Bluetongue vaccination guidelines

Vaccination | Bovilis® BTV8 is licensed for use in cattle and sheep from the age of one month. Stock to be vaccinated must be healthy. The vaccine should not be used in conjunction with any other vaccine. Allow a vaccine-free period of at least two weeks before and after vaccination with Bovilis BTV8. Vaccination may result in slight swelling at the injection site. |

Dose rates | Sheep – 1 x 1ml injected subcutaneously. |
| Cattle – 2 x 1ml injected subcutaneously with a three week interval between the first and second dose. |
| Re-vaccination should be given two weeks prior to the risk period. |

Immunity | Treated animals should have protective immunity three weeks after the final injection. |

Vaccine details and storage | Bovilis BTV8 is supplied in 20ml and 50ml plastic PET bottles. The vaccine must be stored between 2ºC – 8ºC. Once opened, the contents of the bottle must be used within eight hours. |
